1968 Pontiac Parisienne Sports Sedan. Also referred to as Pillarless or Hardtop.

This car is possibly the last of the last. The 1968 Parisienne was the last model assembled in Australia and this example is the latest produced that this webmaster has been able to locate. If its not the last one, it might be the latest one surviving.

But that is really only the start to this car's appeal. Having been originally purchased in August 1969 by the current owner's father-in-law the car has been in the one family since new. The father-in-law was a Crash Repairer and knew how to find the trouble spots that would eventually lead to rust and took immediate action to treat these areas, and in fact all panels, with Fisholac and oil. The car had only travelled 63,052 miles when the current owner decided that a full restoration would be a satisfying project. This project didn't use the word "restoration" lightly - this was a complete disassemble, including removal of chassis, and then carefully attending to every area. The following list of just some of the mini-projects in this restoration will give an appreciation how thorough this restoration was:

• Remove and repaint Chassis
• Remove and repaint all panels - Two Pak
• Remove rear window - check for rust (none) - refit with new seal
• Replace all suspension rubbers
• Replace suspension joints
• Reline Brakes
• New Springs (50mm lower than standard)
• 15"x7" Rally wheels (ie 1" wider than standard)
• TurboHydramatic 350
• Rebuild Engine with new rod bolts, mild crane cam, best quality harmonic balancer, re-worked original inlet manifold, Heads re-worked for breathing and to run on unleaded.
• Wiring hidden under guards
• Heater hoses replced by Chromed pipes
• New 9" Brake booster (HQ)
• All Nuts, Bolts hinges etc recoated in Cad Gold
• New front windscreen
• New rubbers to doors, boot, and roof rail

The interior wasn't touched as it was, and still is, in immacculate and original condition except for a Firebird steering wheel to replace the skinny original one. The car is essentially original but with a touch of custom treatment to simply make it a more enjoyable car to own and drive. The car is located in Mackay, Queensland and is regristration number PML-462.

The total outlay for the restoration as $24,000-00 and thats not counting the many, many unaccounted for hours of care and attention to detail performed. Please note that the rear wheel skirts are not offered for sale. Current mileage is 66,021 original miles. Genuine Offers will be considered.
