"Big, powerful, comfortable and easy to drive, Chev's Biscayne gives the £2,000 size motorist lots of everything, including a barrage of lights on the front." is how Wheels Magazine described this car in March 1959.
This example is offered for sale from Adelaide, South Australia. The owner describes the vehicle as very original and in very good condition. It has been used as a daily driver for several years and as the photos depict is a well kept unit.
Fitted with a 327 Chevrolet V8 mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission shifted via a B&M shifter, it obviously had a bit more spirit than many.
The owner acquired the car in 1997, answering an advert from Unique Cars. He liked it, bought it, and took it home to South Australia. To his dissappointment, he soon found himself spending around $4,000-00 to qualify for registration in South Australia. Issues detected by an engineer, and susequently corrected, included a crack in the frame near the steering box, suspension had been lowered, and discs brakes were fitted to the front.
The necessary repairs were carried out, passed by the engineer (cerificate available) and subsequently registered.
It is a real head turner and requires only limited work to take it to it's last level of restoration but is also suitable for daily use. The owner has invested over $21,000-00 and now wishes to move on and purchase a 4WD.
It has been independantly valued for Insurance purposes at $18,000-00, and is now offered for sale with an asking price of $17,999-00. Registration number is VYG-358.
The owner can be contacted on 0416 163 135 or by email at mstupel@senet.com.au
